December 5-12, 2005 - Belize

Bob and Darlene Eberly, Bill and Peggy Garvey, and Larry and Arlene Hissong worked at Hosanna House for a week in December.  It was good to see Rodger and Carolyn Shuman again.

For several days we sorted new and used clothing, bedding, etc from the container that had been sent.  Items of clothing not needed at Hosanna House were distributed at two locations by means of a jumble (yard) sale.  Money received is used to operate Hosanna House.
Many books and school supplies were delivered to local schools. Darlene, Peggy, and Arlene helped Carolyn clean and arrange items in the storage room, pantry, and classroom.

We met Michelle, a nurse originally from Gettysburg, who now works at a clinic in Belmopan.  She recently received her citizenship in Belize and will be helping at the Hosanna House clinic.

On Sunday we had the opportunity to worship with the horse-and-buggy Mennonites.  The sermons were preached in German, English, and Spanish!
We all spent time socializing and playing games with the girls who reside at the home.  It certainly was a blessing to meet and interact with people of the area.  A different culture is always interesting.
