Spreading God’s love in El Salvador

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you: and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
We are to spread God's love and word through out the world. On March 5th, 2005 seven team members representing UB churches from Blue Rock, Greencastle Otterbein, Ebenezer, King Street and Mainsville left Pennsylvania for EI Salvador. Under the direction of Bob Eberly, founder of Here's Hope Ministries, our mission was to complete church buildings in two different communities. To accomplish this in the time frame of our trip we split into two groups. Bob Eberly and Alan Hain worked with the locals on the UB church in Sonsonate; Willis Banks, Larry and Arlene Hissong, Jim Mong and Rick Sanders worked with the locals on the UB church in Apulo. We worked hard at pouring concrete floors, putting on the roof and installing doors and windows. We were able to finish both of the planned projects plus work on a few smaller ones. The UB church in EI Salvador is struggling to get established and was very grateful for our help and is in need of our continuing prayers and support.
One of the highlights of this trip (and every other mission trip I've been on) is interacting with the children. One night at Bible school we taught them a new song and how to make a cross by folding and tearing paper. It is a wonderful feeling to come home knowing that in some small way you have reflected God's love to others.
