Hosanna House

Eighteen girls and one little four year old boy are making Hosanna House a bee hive of activity. We are currently in the summer recess from school so the days for all 19 residents need to be filled with activities. This keeps our staff very busy but like most families we hear “I’m bored” a lot.

Girls

With the increase in the number of residents it has brought new challenges and needs for our facility. Nineteen residents has demanded more water than our system and one storage tank could provide. So last week we installed the second 1100 liter tank and are in the process of laying a new two inch supply line from the main to replace the 3/4 inch line now in use. These two improvements should solve our water problem.
Keeping enough food in the house for nineteen hungry residents has been challenging. The girls' diet consists mainly of rice, beans and chicken. We also use a lot of eggs and fresh fruits. Miss Lorma is a very good cook who enjoys baking bread and cakes so we also use a lot of flour.

Mealtime

Our residents come to us for many different reasons. Some of the younger ones come because of neglect or abuse by their mother or her live-in man. All come desiring acceptance and affection. When you pull up to the entrance of Hosanna House be prepared to be surrounded by the girls reaching out for a hug as they greet you.

Learning

We are unable, because of the privacy rights of each child, to report why they are Wards of the Court or why they are assigned to us by the Government of Belize. You can be assured that each of their stories would break your heart.. All of them so young and innocent but abused and mistreated by adults that should be protecting them.
Please pray for our residents that God will give them healing and peace, and that their days with us will be filled with joy and love as we minister to their needs.

Bus on the way to Belize

On July 4th weekend our big yellow 72 passenger Ford diesel school bus left Greencastle, PA for Belize. It was driven to Tampa, FL where it will be put on a boat and shipped to Big Creek, Belize. The Otterbein United Brethren Church in Greencastle is paying the cost of getting this bus to Belize.
We had packed the inside full of items such as; clothing, dishes, games, clothes line post, appliances, beds, office equipment, books, tables and much more.
We have applied for and the Government of Belize has granted us relief from duty on this shipment including the school bus. We are thankful to God for this savings.
