BELIZE

Finishing touches

As the Children’s Home gets a coat of paint on the exterior walls the construction phase of this building is nearing completion.
The team from the Emmanuel Community Church in Fort Wayne, IN completed the exterior painting on all the buildings. This has made a big difference on the compound. We are grateful to them for their work.

Seven individuals from the Pleasant Hill UB Church in Greencastle, Pa were joined by two men from King Street UB Church in Chambersburg, Pa and a couple from Waynesboro, VA. This team worked on plumbing and did most of the interior painting.

We are grateful for work teams from several Baptist Churches in the Southern United States that have worked on the home in the last several months. They have finished the ceiling and hung all the doors. These work teams have come to us through Roy and Susan Tripp who are working with us in Belize. We want to express our thanks to them for the work they do and the encouragement they have been to us as we complete the Children’s Home.
Construction on the building is nearly completed. We have a few interior doors to varnish, shelves to put up, some lights to install, and a little plumbing left to finish before being completely done. Denis and Donna are aggressively working on the application for a license and the staffing needs.

After much discussion and prayer and many suggestions it has been decided that the name of the children’s home will be Hosanna House.
We believe that this gives testimony of our Christian faith and notifies the world that God is the center of our ministry.
On December 5, 2004 Bob Eberly, Denis and Donna Walsh and Roy and Susan Tripp met with Eva Pennil and Mauice Williams of the Department of Human Services. At that meeting we asked what the greatest need in child care was for the Government of Belize. They requested that we establish a home for young girls ages 10 through 14. We believe that this is the ministry that God has for us here in Belize and have agreed to develop a program around this age group of girls. We know that some of these girls will come to us pregnant and we will need to care for the babies also. Hosanna House will be the only home where young girls who are troubled, neglected, and abused can find Christian love, Christian counseling and Christian friends.
The application for the license to operate the home has been filed with the Department of Human Services of the Government of Belize. We have also filed the government required police checks and health reports on our purposed employees. Ms. Williams the inspector for the Government of Belize, has scheduled a “final” inspection for April 4, 2005. We hope that soon after this inspection the Government of Belize will issue our license. This would then permit us to receive residents.

This is a great challenge that God has laid before us and we covet your prayers for our staff and the residents that will come to us.
