Progress At The Children's Home

BELIZE - It is hard to believe that just last November a work team from King Street and Salem United Brethren Churches worked in the mud and rain to pour the footers for the Children’s Home project in Belize. The roof is now complete, all the walls inside and out are plastered and ready for paint, and the windows are made, paid for and ready to be installed. Our next work team is scheduled to go to Belize in early October.

We also are talking with two churches who are each planning for a work team early next year.
The work left to be done is: Install the ceiling, install the floor, plumbing, electrical, hang doors, build shelves and build and install kitchen cabinets.
One of the biggest jobs is the installation of the ceramic floor tile. The complete building will take approximately 5000 tile. We have priced the tile in Belize together with installation and it appears that each tile will cost us approximately $2.00. The ceramic tile floor is a requirement, by the Government of Belize, for a Children’s Home. This will be a large expense for us and we need your help. If you or your group could help fund this floor project we would appreciate it. You may want to pay for one tile or several hundred tile, just take $2.00 times the number of tiles you would like to fund. Or, you may want to fund the complete floor for one of the eight rooms that will house the children. Each of the eight rooms will take 240 tile or $480.00.
Please contact us if you can help with the Floor Project. We would like to get this work done by national workers and have the floor finished before the end of September. With all of us working together we can finish the Children’s Home debt free.
You can also complete the response card if you would like to go on a work team to help finish the Home. Besides the October team described later in the newsletter, we could use additional teams in November and February.
